The Intuitive process of jewelry design
by Cristy Nix
I love doing custom work, especially when it has such specific intentions. When talking to a client about the piece to be made, it still amazes me how it just comes to me in a really clear vision. When I sketch it, the client is always thrilled, telling me “this is exactly what I wanted!” Gotta love it.
We always start with choosing color and looking to see what gem stones the client is drawn to. It thrills me when we begin looking into the meaning or blessings of the stones they are choosing, and how accurate the client is in picking out stones that really relay what intentions they have for the piece. Through this process of allowing the client to choose their own stones and metals, I feel they are being guided by their own higher self or connection to Spirit to help them choose what reflects the goals of wearing the piece we are co-creating. Simply Divine!
Recycling never looked so good!
I just love the Phoenix. Besides having my last name in the word, it symbolizes to me a rebirth of sorts, which is how I feel I bring a uniqueness to redesigning jewelry. Bring me your tired, out dated designs, and together we will salvage what you want from the old jewelry and re-purpose the rest to make a unique piece of jewelry that is all your own. Plus, you can say it was custom and handmade for you! What is better than that?
My Process: I use a similar process for custom work, it is as intuitive as it is unique. First we chat about what it is you want from your piece, if you would like to recycle gold or silver use towards the finished piece, and your budget. Then we choose stones (sometimes we save them from the recycled jewelry) and silver or gold based on what you are drawn to and do a sketch of the design. I take it from there once it is approved and create the vision from the sketch. Once the piece is finished I send a photo to you for final approval. Then I send it to you including a personal explanation of the piece and what the meaning of the stones are for your unique work of Spirit.
So, my question to you is “Have any jewelry you want to recycle?”
